Is Winter Polypore edible?

Lentinus brumalis is considered non-toxic but is generally not recommended for consumption due to its extremely tough and leathery texture, even when young. It is not known to contain any harmful compounds, but its culinary value is negligible. There are no known toxic look-alikes that are easily confused with it, especially given its unique pore structure and tough consistency.
